Hi, Jeff, welcome to the Dr. So, so, so nice to be on the road again. We're back on the road again. Those road trips oh my oh my god.
Unknown 2:59
So give us a quick 411 You. Me knew each other. I think before we were born,
Unknown 3:08
we knew each other before I won, because our dads were not best friends. They were basically glued together with a group of people that were captains of industry decades ago in Japan. I managed all mentioned the story, please. Sorry. It's a key point of conversation today. That motivation is a key piece to making your move, whether you're in crisis, whether you're an opportunity, wherever you may be, motivation is key. A man that motivated me when I was about 10 or 12 years old was Eddie said many recipes. Jeff's dad, who was dynamic Dynamo incredible my I always wanted to be one of the boys that was 10 years old. They all except the me one guy like me, but anyway I mean the conversation. So he said basically get the kid in the room. I was crying. I still when I tell this story. I cried. I talked to Jeff about that 1000 times already and his family and friends. And I didn't know what to do. And he said comes over to me and he goes your own honey. What's a man? I go, Eddie. He wants to be in the other room and I want to stay so and he said being away is go he puts his arm around me and he goes over to the guy and he says the kid stays with us. You have a problem. I know it he could stay wherever he wants to stay. And I never forgot that. So I guess that's why we
Unknown 4:48
that's why we ever hit today. You know, it's important for us to not take that call right now. And you know, so what drives for Jeff,
Unknown 5:00
we're driving with driving. I told Jeff that this ride I mean, it's a short little wind but I really wanted to drive like from here to talk about and I'm sure and I hope will will encourage a lot of people listening.
Unknown 5:17
Amen. Amen. So we're gonna talk about SEO questions your personal question and so when and what was the pivotal point in your life, that life's journeys driving through life when you hit kind of a serious pothole, accident detour things weren't working out the way you anticipate it to? What did you do to drive through it? And what was the lesson?
Unknown 5:43
Great question. First of all, like I've told you in the past, that there are plenty I've had plenty like everybody has potholes. I think some of the finals are really, you shouldn't have a truck behind you with paving equipment. But it's serious time came about 2025 years ago, when I sold my business, right my partner, and at that time, I was I had a great relation with him. And it was incredible. We doing well, but I wanted to really move on with my life and do something with my skill set. What that hole was was a year of that hole, that pothole, and where I thought I could do everything. And again, the key to that were the key to my journey. My wife, Marlene, was instrumental in stabilizing me
Unknown 6:41
Hugo more cases in directions. I was working out everything
Unknown 6:46
I needed to sell cars soon as I knew that I was going to build the company I was going to do everything
Unknown 6:52
and one year later, you weren't moving anywhere.
Unknown 6:55
I wasn't I wasn't going anywhere. You weren't feeling good. No. And my wife came to me and said, Irwin, you got to do one thing. You got to focus on thing. You have the talent and do it
Unknown 7:08
by life by by composing your wife saying hey, your win, let's do what you got. Having support, outgrown that is fully support. And when you focused and you have support and you're focused, all of a sudden now Shem says oh, by the way, you're not confusing me with all these ideas. Right here you go. Yeah.
Unknown 7:29
I mean, she's too much beautiful.
Unknown 7:31
So now this LED you as I said in my introduction about being involved with the doing acid. Magnificent that works. It's 100 has said and getting back through the community organizations impacted
Unknown 7:47
and changed my life and this is something I would pitch to people out there because I never really understood what that world was, you know, someone came you gave me a donation. you volunteer for an hour, but you commit like I did 100 hours a week for supposed to be for a year and became 15 years was the greatest joy I ever had in my life. I tell this to my wife every day to meet virtually all 15 years several 1000 people in and out of the community and use an incredible talented Board of Directors captains of industry volunteers are made out of the community and and to make a difference in so many people's lives and to learn from them at the same time. It was just an incredible thing. Two stories without names. Number one a kid came to us out of college. He started a company just hustling on the side. Bottom line, the team really was instrumental in helping him he went to the team captains of industry that actually boy, I worked with him. A couple of years later he went from zero to a couple million dollars, five six years later with a stepped up you know, team, you want to 3040 50 Wiles, and then we position them when a merchant bank on his own company. And it's amazing
Unknown 9:08
and they give back that you got received by giving. I got back you know the feeling you got when you see this kid keep going to come to my office. Yeah, and you met him for money. And you know what, one four to seven divisions going on. It's, it's very rewarding.
Unknown 9:26
And the thing is that I'm a huge believer on human capital. That's that's really my whole gig. Whatever. It is that talented, that person is not replaceable,
Unknown 9:38
but you don't know about the AI is going to replace AI is not going
Unknown 9:42
to do that good AI is not going to be the tool. It's a great tool and all these digital tools are phenomenal. And I love them but but to me that all platforms to move information. They're not. They're not the collaborative in touch, team effort that you need to make things on this thing so many times I ask people what what's your talent when they came to me especially talking about when they were in crisis? Like what did you do? And the classic answer was always I could do anything, which means zero. So I say name three things that you could do. And like my my whole feeling was that if I had to identify what i i say there's three things about me that I really will put myself up against the world. I've got kids networking, having the ability to network with the entire planet, which is really something that my dad blessed me with that that that skill set. And Jeff No No my dad Well, networking knowledge to consume all the data through reading through online through events through seminars and pitches to my kids all the time, networking knowledge, and then the finale, which is my love numbers. Those are the three things that I could bring to the table that could change any company I say fantastic right? So now when you need the other pieces is that is the good to great. You need the talent around you. When you phenomenal book because that's what the Great Good to Great Jim calm Jim. Collins right pick it up. Pick it up. So this company's might be old world because it's 20 years later, but the model is still the same. Right? You know it the model is that follow that model when you surround yourself with the people that can do what you can't do or need to do the best. Then like Jim Collins says, you want to go on the bus you want to go on the bus we all people that aren't talented, or people that are good, or you want to take a bus full of great people meaning great as far as talent for what you want to accomplish. And that's and that's the key the human capital is worth much more than money's commodities, nothing today. Human capital is key.
Unknown 12:06
Fantastic. Excellent advice. And now what about what driving lesson one or two driving lesson tool would you give someone going through a rough patch all traffic jam will pothole the zone in life you know in their business time and he doesn't have the guy driver behind him to fill the panel know Right exactly. To help them you know tell them you know drive but you guys going through some crisis now you no longer so, guys, oh, the accidental fender bender, whatever the case may be, and that was that a lunchtime Allah tap or you know what he thinks is like a complete, you know, totally his car. But let's say situation cancellation or whatever. Is something big pivotal moment in business. I think the tone is really freaking out him or her. What tool lesson would you tell them to drive through this challenging time that they may I
Unknown 13:07
first would say you have to put a spin on it. You have to make the crisis, an opportunity. Right? That's number one. Because once you count on the fact that it's a crisis, you're not going to handle the crisis.
Unknown 13:22
So I'm kind of like this is happening right for me right to me,
Unknown 13:25
right saying the personal only worry. violin is not easy. This is easy for me to say I say we've been through potholes or whatever, whatever you want to call it takes work. It takes work it takes but just my toolkit that someone should take along with them. Number one, they should immediately reach out for mentorship. advice from people obviously like Jeff, right.
Unknown 13:50
Friends, family,
Unknown 13:51
friends, family and get your network here. Right. Understand where you're holding. Grab it strongly. And then once you have your membership alone you Alicia little eliminate some of the clouds then, which I mean, this is my toolkit network, the world friend, cousin, a business acquaintance, a schoolmate, this son, whatever it might be, and it doesn't have to be your industry or your product or
Unknown 14:21
so you see something on LinkedIn something that may
Unknown 14:27
network the world and from that leading to that, then something again that Jeff and I are on the same page. Expose yourself read a lot. Learn to Learn as Learn, learn learn, like you say so. Take all these things that you find that the US so hit the pause
Unknown 14:45
button purposely
Unknown 14:49
the truth God bless you, I learned that from you. And I started to do that. Why just take a half hour I shut the phones. I just I take a walk whenever I just thought I don't want to come back like an animal.
Unknown 15:04
You refreshed. Oh and this was ID. This is unbelievable. Not a great conversation to treat. really honored to have you are
Unknown 15:14
we now in Chicago so
Unknown 15:18
yeah, we're gonna go Western way. They said, This is great. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to do this.
Unknown 15:26
Like I said, I'm a huge fan of you on the you reinvention and the fact that you make a difference in so many people's lives listing also as far as reinvention, you pick up a good
Unknown 15:35
point listing I want to make sure it's never too late. Now you guys come to me. Oh, I'm I'm 40 I'm 50 I'm 60 It's never too late to
Unknown 15:44
never take your talent. The only time an issue, the only time to finally
Unknown 15:49
make time and issuing and
Unknown 15:53
the key thing is, don't wait time define you. Your skills. Amazing
Unknown 15:58
compensation. Thank you again. I love it. Grady early day, I'm blessed to have this man I've seen the show. Thank you for being on the driving with Jeff show. I'll see you soon more lessons to come. Yeah, yeah, it's gonna do this again.
Unknown 16:18
